Striker remains on top form
Big Phil Scolari couldn’t get the Ivory Coast striker playing for him but Carlo Ancelotti has been able to get Didier Drogba on fire from the first half of the season. Drogba is a big game player and usually finds form in the latter months of the football calendar.
However, he has been banging them in for Chelsea this season and Ivory Coast are likely to benefit from his form.
The nation are one of the favourites for the African Cup of Nations which kicks off in Angola on Sunday night and they are warming up nicely.
Some teams are already in Angola preparing for the tournament but the Ivory Coast are in Tanzania and won 1-0 in a friendly on Monday night.
Unsurprisingly, the Chelsea hitman scored the only goal of the game in the 37th minute.
The match was played in front of 60,000 fans, which is a tremendous attendance for a friendly between an international team and the Taifa Stars of Tanzania.
The Ivory Coast have another warm up match to come on Thursday against Rwanda before they head off to Angola for the real action. Group B is the setting for the Ivory Coast and their opening game is on Monday night.
Can Drogba fire Ivory Coast to glory?
