What is decided:
Bordeaux qualified for last 16, as group leaders.

Maccabi Haifa will finish bottom

What is up for grabs:
Juventus and Bayern Munich can both clinch second place in the group.

The two play with Juventus at home and if Juventus avoid defeat, they will take second place.

Bayern need to win, if they do, they take second place and Juventus will go to Europa League

A head to head clash to decide the final knock-out place up for grabs is exactly what the fans want. Juventus obviously start favourites with home advantage and a draw being enough but this can sometimes work against a team.

Bayern Munich know that it is win or bust and their mind will be focused on that.

If the score is a draw late on, will Juventus sit back and play for the draw or go for the winner to seal their qualification? It is a tricky position to be in.

Bayern Munich may be able to rescue a treacherous start to the season by nicking an away win but the game is definitely up for grabs, which should make it an exciting prospect for any neutral looking in.

Is it Bayern or Juventus for you?
The dominance of Spanish and English clubs in the Champions League has left some big name casualties. The Italian teams are struggling to keep pace with teams from these two nations but life is even harder for German teams.

The way German clubs are run and funded is vastly different from many of the other nations allow their teams to be run.

This is great for the fans as it allows cheap entry and the opportunity for every fan to own part of their club.
Sadly, it plays a part in keeping the German clubs the poorer relatives of the large spending and all-conquering from England and Spain.

This has hurt Bayern Munich badly, a club synonymous with success in Germany and Europe.

A 1-0 home win over Maccabi Haifa is hardly the biggest European result in the clubs history but for their current status, this tight win was majorly important. Olic delivered the strike that grabbed all three points and kept Bayern Munich in the hunt for Champions League glory.

A 2-0 victory for Bordeaux left Juventus on 8 points, just one ahead of the German club which leaves football fans with a final day showdown in Italy.

A home win or draw will see Juventus through to the final sixteen whilst their opponents will be looking to the Europa League for their European action. However, an away win will change all that.

If Bayern Munich can upset the odds and triumph in Italy, there may just be a new chapter written in the story of Germany’s most famous club.

If you think Bayern Munich can overcome expectations and triumph in Italy, let us know.

The battle to join them sees Juventus as firm favourites but Bayern Munich retain a slim chance of taking second place.

Although Bordeaux are six points ahead of Bayern with two games remaining, the head to head results of these two teams ensures that even if they finish level on points, the French side will be ranked higher.

This leaves the second qualification place up for grabs with the potential for a final day showdown. However, Matchday 5 looks like this:

Bayern Munich v Maccabi Haifa
Bordeaux v Juventus

Bayern Munich should be capable of taking all three points from Maccabi, a team yet to score having lost all four games so far, so you can forgive the Bavarians attention drifting towards France.

With Juventus holding a four point lead over Bayern, an away win will consign Bayern to Europa League football after the New Year. Bordeaux will still have pride to play for and a desire to top the group but Juventus has much more at stake.

This could be the difference in Bordeaux as Juventus will want to have a last 16 place booked before they welcome Bayern Munich to Turin.

No matter what Bayern do against Maccabi, their Champions League fate does not lie in their own hands. This is due to the poor results they have picked up so far, one win, one draw and two defeats to Bordeaux is the only reason Bayern Munich are in their current predicament.

On current form, it is hard to justify or confidently predict that Bayern Munich should finish in the top two places of Group A.

All credit to Bordeaux and Juventus for potentially pushing one of the biggest names in European football to the side.
Bayern may be FC Hollywood in Germany but they are slipping further behind the major powerhouses of European football.

Europa League may become their level.
