Three way fight for second place

Sevilla have secured their last 16 spot but Group G is still wide open.

Unirea Urziceni are the team currently in second place but with a home tie against the runaway leaders, they can’t be confident of picking up anything. This leaves the two teams squaring off in Glasgow looking to sneak into second place with a game to go.

The fixtures for Match day 5 are:

Glasgow Rangers v Stuttgart

Unirea Urziceni v Sevilla
Group G is not as tight as Group F but with two points splitting second to fourth, it is genuinely up for grabs. Rangers are currently bottom, thanks to their horrific home record.

Two away points have been a great boost for the Glasgow side but two 4-1 home defeats has seen them rooted to the foot of the table. They desperately need to avert this slide when Stuttgart come to Glasgow.

Neither of these two teams have won a game in this season’s Champions League so a victory for either team here would be a mighty relief. In these circumstances, a draw can often occur, which would be of some benefit to Unirea Urziceni.

If there is no outright winner in Glasgow, the Romanian team will remain in second place regardless of their score at home.

With Sevilla having qualified, there may be a chance the Spanish team will have their mind on other matters and this is what the Romanian fans will be hoping for.

Any victory in the Glasgow match could well see that team into second place unless another surprise occurs. However, with the final match days seeing Rangers head to Spain and Unirea Urziceni heading to Germany, there could be a lot of changes to this group before it is settled.

Can the Romanians pull off another shock result?
