Drogba nets only goal in Ivory Coast friendly

Most Chelsea fans will only be hoping that Didier Drogba returns from the African Cup of Nations free from injury but if he can remain on top form, it will be of benefit to the club.

The stats indicate that Drogba grabs more goals in the latter half of the season but Carlo Ancelotti has got the best out of the star. Drogba has led the line superbly for Chelsea so far this season and is a big reason why the team is still out in front at the top of the league.

He won’t be too upset at missing the cold weather that is covering Britain though and he showed this by scoring the only goal in a 1-0 Ivory Coast win.

Okay, they were playing a Tanzanian club side but the game was played in front of 60,000 people. It was held in the new national stadium in Tanzania and provided a great warm-up for the Ivory Coast side who are amongst the favourites for the African Cup of Nations.

Ivory Coast have another friendly before their campaign begins on Monday and with the final on the 31st of January, it could be a long wait for Chelsea fans.
