Wal, it is a good point you make.

If Liverpool did receive this type of bid, you would think they would offer him to the big clubs in mainland Europe, and even for a lesser fee.

Then you have to ask yourself, would Torres go to Real Madrid?
Is he a Barcelona style player?

That would only leave a big Italian club who could even look to compete and justify the signing for the cost.

maybe for that sum outside Britain -YES but not to a home rival
and torres said he will never play for another english club

Things have changed now.

Morale is down at Liverpool, the rumblings of players wanting to go, the financial situation impacting on everything….and a £100m bid for one player is not the same as a £100m bid for two players – so its a different situation.

Realistically Liverpool would be nuts to turn down such an offer if this was made…..
Torres is a great player but realistically we have had him play no more than 2/3rds of a season maximum
The owners will have to judge the short term benefits against the longer position
Man City are unlikely to bid now as they won’t get value for their aim to guarantee at least 4th
Seeing Anelka is stalling a contract they will see better value waiting till next year and paying him £120K a week or paying this and a transfer fee to Chelsea of say £10 million
If LFC took the money they would look to acquire Anelka and manage in the meantime and bank some money.

There is no doubt it is a flier article but you must admit if a serious bid came in, Liverpool would have to give it a lot of consideration.
