With the big freeze forcing the postponement of a lot of games , the ones that do go ahead are played out in rather cold conditions. The fans need to take precautions to ensure that they are wrapped up but what about the players?

They are running about so they should be able to keep a heat about them.

However, and this may be more applicable to some of the foreign stars, there are many players who need extra protection from the frostbite.

Chimbonda has been wearing gloves for Blackburn Rovers since September so how does he combat the freezing conditions of December?

He wears two pairs of gloves!

Using layers as opposed to a heavier set of clothing is the recommended way to stay warm so there is an element of logic to the actions of the Ewood Park man. That said though, it just doesn’t seem right or certainly the way that footballers used to behave.

Thankfully for Chimbonda, his gloves are a simple branded pair and not related to the clubs he plays for. Chimbonda has certainly done the rounds of English Premier League clubs in the past few years, including his return trip from Tottenham Hotspur.

If the weather at this weekends fixtures or the midweek games of next week are as cold as the weather is today, expect many players to follow Pascal Chimbonda’s way to keep warm.
