Transfer Rumours: Chelsea, Manchester City, Birmingham, Bolton and more

Get your red-hot rumours, as warm as you like!

We all love snow. People who say they don’t are liars. It brings you that merry cheer, despite the unearthly temperatures and blue colour it brings to your skin.

In January, cold weather comes with cold decisions in football, some that make or break seasons. Talking of making or breaking a season, Arsene Wenger could well dip into Arsenal’s well sealed transfer kitty and finally sign a player that isn’t a teenager.

With profits of over £35 million reportedly being made, £9 million of that could go to West Ham striker Carlton Cole and mount an overdue title challenge.

In the other half of London, Chelsea are keeping tabs on Sampdoria’s Italian striker Giampaolo Pazzini, who would cost Chelsea a little pocket money… Well, £20 million is still pocket change in football, isn’t it?

With about 5 pence available to spend, Liverpool seem to be taking advantage of the pre-contract rule. With Maxi Rodriguez almost signed, they’re now looking to sign striker Marouane Chamakh from Bordeaux.

Man City are linked with every man that can kick a ball, including Gary Cahill, Juan Veron (Yes, that is indeed the mega flop who once graced Chelsea and Man Utd tops)>, Giampaolo Pazzini and one Patrick Vieira, who is expected to sign on a free in the next couple of days.

Expect Gary Cahill not to be Owen Coyle’s new captain, as the massively overpriced centre back will be cashed in to give Bolton’s new messiah a meager transfer fund.

Birmingham City’s new ‘revolution’ is steadying its pace, with Ryan Babel, Aiden McGeady and Sporting Gijon midfielder Michel all on Alex McLeish’s wish list.

Lastly, expect Manchester City to send out a 1000 strong delegate team to Spain to try and convince David Villa to join them next season, as the Spanish striker has finally admitted that he would be interested in playing in another league.

With plenty of time left in the January 2010 transfer window, keep coming back to WeKnowFA where Dan Gillespie will give you the lowdown on who will be moving faster than a Portsmouth player trying to change his Direct Debits.

Gary Cahill.. massively overpriced??? If Joleon Lescott is worth £23 mil then Cahill must be worth at least £15 (if not the same as Lescott). Maybe it’s just because he plays for Bolton……

  2. WeKnowFA says:

£15…he is worth more than that!

Cheers Mags, its a hard one.

In all honesty, Joleon Lescott is not worth £23m, that was insanity and brinksmanship from City, especially when they let a better centre half go for buttons.

However, a player is worth what someone wants to pay for him, so if Cahill moves for £15m, then he’ll be worth it.

If he goes, who would you like to see Owen Coyle move for?

  3. Dan Gillespie says:

    Mags,

You can’t really compare transfers with one another. If you compare Cahill to Lescott in terms of value, then you have to look at the flip side – Richard Dunne is twice the player that Cahill is, and he was bought for a meager £5 million.

Cahill is being valued at that price because he plays in the Premier League and because he’s English, which is vital seemingly these days (according to the media).

What do you think he is worth, Mags?
