Calderwood needs time, Kilmarnock can’t offer it
It is really tight at the bottom of the SPL

Jimmy Calderwood may think that his Kilmarnock team did not deserve to lose at Pittodrie but the 1-0 loss keeps them in big trouble at the bottom of the SPL.
“I think we dominated at the end, and it was one-way traffic, but the damage was done early in the second-half.”
It makes sense that a team that was 1-0 down would put pressure on at the end of the game but Aberdeen have a fairly strong rearguard this season and Killie don’t really have the firepower to break them down.
Killie are still one point off the bottom of the league but Falkirk now have two games in hand over them. Killie may have gained a psychological blow by knocking the Bairns out of the Cup but a point for Falkirk at home to Dundee United on Sunday would see the Bairns of the bottom.
This would see Killie at the bottom of the SPL, and they would still be a game behind Falkirk.
Kilmarnock would then travel to New Douglas Park on Tuesday to face Hamilton, in a match which is looking like a must-win game for both teams.
Jimmy Calderwood really needs to get his Kilmarnock team picking up points or relegation could become a serious concern for the Ayrshire team. With Killie’s financial problems, a trip to the Scottish Football League could be disastrous.
Can Calderwood arrest the slide at Kilmarnock?
