Celtic confirm Ljungberg signing
Swede in contention for Ibrox slot?

The Celtic website has officially announced the signing of Freddie Ljungberg.
It’s a bold move and sees Celtic delving into the transfer market with haste and the fans will be hoping for a few more signings before January is finished but this is a major start from the hoops.
The announcement ran:
CELTIC are delighted to announce the signing of Freddie Ljungberg. The Swedish internationalist, who passed a medical today, could be in contention for a derby debut in the game against Rangers at Ibrox this Sunday, January 2, 2011.
The former Arsenal midfielder won 75 caps for Sweden during his career. Since 2009, he has been playing in the United States, first for Seattle Sounders and then, more recently for Chicago Fire.
Ljungberg, who has been training with Celtic this week, was at Celtic Park on Wednesday night to watch the Hoops beat Motherwell 1-0 and go back to the top of the SPL.
He will be officially unveiled as a Celtic player at a press conference at the Lennoxtown Training Centre on Friday, December 31 at 10am.
Whether Ljungberg makes his debut at Ibrox remains to be seen but with Scott Brown out of the game and doubts over Olivier Kapo’s fitness, do not be surprised to see Freddie involved on Sunday.

As a link between midfield and front he could be priceless but I am not expecting miracles from him on Sunday. It’s far too much to ask from someone who got off a plane barely a week ago.
Now, another centre half and a striker and we could really be in business.
