Celtic take on Rangers in Scottish Cup

by WeKnowSFA

Hoops away to Berwick as SPL champions play Kilmarnock

Apologies for the cheeky headline but it lends itself so well……
The 4th round of the Scottish Cup takes place on the weekend starting Saturday 8th of January (weather and refs being allowed out in the cold permitting) and as per usual, this draw is the one that gets the traditionalists excited.

If you are talking about the romance of the cup, the thought of a small team beating a big team is where it’s at. Scottish football has had a lot of cup shocks and the two biggest – Berwick Rangers beating Glasgow Rangers and Inverness Caledonian Thistle beating Celtic happened when the smaller clubs were bundled in with the big boys.

The full draw will follow but the big two could have tricky moments for different reasons.

Berwick will have dreams of completing their big Glasgow double with a win over Celtic whilst Rangers face SPL opposition in Kilmarnock, a team they also faced in this seasons League Cup and of course, defeated 3-2 at the weekend.

Full draw for the (still sponsorless?) Scottish Cup.

Aberdeen v East Fife
Dundee Utd v Ross County
QOS v Brechin/Annan
Montrose v Dunfermline
Morton v Airdrie/Beith
Falkirk v Partick Thistle
Berwick v Celtic
East Stirling v Buckie Thistle
Rangers v Kilmarnock
Hibs v Ayr
Stenhousmuir/Threave v Stranraer
Hamilton v Alloa
St Mirren v Peterhead
Inverness v Elgin
Dundee v Motherwell
Hearts v St Johnstone

Dundee United v Ross County will see these teams meet again and is of course a repeat of last seasons Scottish Cup final. Falkirk v Partick could be a cracking tie, as could Dundee v Motherwell. Hearts v St Johnstone is the second all SPL tie and again, a decent shout for tie of the round.

looks like you would do anything to get the extra hits from Newsnow

  • WeKnowSFA

Yes Hoopy, that’s clearly the reason for it.

Never mind the fact that the long term result of doing it means people get pissed off with the site and less people visit the site over time…that’s clearly why it was done.

Or it was a bit of humour…whatever suits you best mate!

I keep hiding this publication from Newsnow, then I delete cookies or move to another computer and see an article like this, click on it, then proceed to hide this publication yet again. Not as bad as tribalfootball mind.

  • WeKnowSFA

Aaaw Mick, we’re nowhere near as bad as that – we throw in the odd pun now and again…we have more serious articles than joke ones
