Loan move for highly rated youngster?

Celtic fans may rather their club was being linked with a centre half or three but the online talk is that there may be a loan move for Daniel Sturridge of Chelsea during the January transfer window.
For one, it must be remembered that Celtic lost at the weekend, so it wouldn’t be the biggest surprise if this sort of story was deliberately leaked. It is not exactly going to wipe away the memory of the 2-1 defeat to Hearts but it could slightly soften the blow.
In all likelihood, it is not going to be a runner but surely this is the sort of attacking loan player Celtic should be going for?
Given that Sturridge was involved for the Chelsea first team at Upton Park and won Chelsea their penalty in a 1-1 draw, his stock will be high with Ancelotti. With a busy team of the year and Chelsea losing Didier Drogba in January for the African Cup of Nations, is it likely they will be happy to offload someone on the fringe of the first team?
One possible source of the rumour is that Celtic reserves are scheduled to be playing the Chelsea reserve team in a closed match this week, so the player may well be in Glasgow this week...whether it is for a potential move is an entirely different matter.
Sturridge has only made three competitive first team appearances for Chelsea so far so it is not a stretch of the imagination to think that he may be seeking regular first team football but it is still a 2 + 2 = 5 situation to say he is on his way to Celtic.
Bringing someone who is keen to show what they can do and build their name has to be something that is of interest to Celtic and the player.

Erm, check your headline again — pretty sure you mean Daniel Sturridge, not his uncle Dean (see Derby County in the 90′s). No chance Chelsea will be letting him go out on loan either, btw, as we will not be recalling Franco DiSanto from Blackburn in January. Best of luck in the league…
