Celtic snap up Wilson and Watt

WeKnowSFA - Celtic

Friday, January 7th looks like being the day the transfer window kicked into life in Scotland. There will be bigger days to come but this was the day when the stories came to life and things started falling into place.

We’ve already looked at the Rangers stories from today, although the gossip talk of Kevin Kyle to Rangers could ignite another lengthy article so it is time to look at Celtic. Let’s not forget that Celtic managed to pick up Freddie Ljungberg before the close of 2010 but the club are also looking to the future.

Those in green and white will hope that Ljungberb will secure silverware this season but Kelvin Wilson and Tony Watt look to be signings made with one eye on the future.

Wilson has been signed up on a Bosman deal for next season but Celtic are said to be keen on securing a deal to bring the defender up before the end of the month. Celtic may find themselves thwarted by Forest boss Billy Davies, who is unlikely to be rushing to do the hoops any favours.

It’s a tricky position for Davies to be in but that’s not the first time the ex-Motherwell boss has been caught up in a dangerous position. We could go on with further comments about a compromising ménage-a-trois looming between Celtic, Forest and Wilson but Davies has probably had enough of that in recent weeks. Haha!

Anyways, WeKnowSFA will be glad to see Wilson arrive in Scotland because it will provide us the opportunity to make temperature related gags.

And if it is bad puns you want, we are in our element about Watt signing for Celtic. Yes, it seems as though Celtic were quick to snap up the young spark from Airdrie in a deal which will see the player attached to Celtic for the next three years.

Watt is expected to join up with the Celtic youth squad and is not considered one for the immediate first team.

Rumours about Celtic’s interest in Norwegian striker Erik Huseklepp seem to be very much alive with STV reporting the player could be a Celtic player within the next 24 hours.

  • I am delighted with Wilson joining he is a definite leader but we still need another big centre half or two as well as strong midfielder and experienced solid goalie but this is great start

  • Hopefully they can secure Kelvin this month and if a goalscorer is also added, be it Hunskelper or whatever his name is or someone else, then I will be very confident of being in the title race for the long haul regardless if the fire sale at Owebrox continues or not.
