Given that Rangers would have had the opportunity to go five points clear at the top of the SPL, there will be some anguish by the fans but it is probably for the best for the Ibrox side. After a tough Champions League match in the week, this allows Rangers some time to recover and no doubt Walter Smith will feel relieved about not being forced to break the “picket-line” of the SFA refs.
The Alba Cup final was postponed yesterday and the same decision could have been taken for the Dundee United v Rangers game but they probably wanted to give it as much chance of being on as possible.
With Rangers fans travelling from all over, the timing of the call-off is likely to have many people angry but an early decision has been made and hopefully not too many fans have travelled. With Rangers still in the Champions League, the Ibrox side will be happier with a postponement until the New Year but as of yet, no date for the rearranged game has been given.

Think its great our game is off with injuries etc, throws into chaos SPL plan of us having 5 away games after Champs league matches, which, clearly if they had qualified, would have meant 5 home games for Celtic, its the compueter honest guv

I’m also delighted that the Dundee United Chairman stands to lose a considerable amount of money after the postponement, particularly after his shameful behaviour the last time when the game was called off at half time.
