Dundee United and Rangers to serve up a pre-Christmas treat
A Tuesday night Tayside clash
With the weather being what it is at the moment, midweek games after postponements look like being the order of the day for the near future. We don’t get the worst weather in Scotland but when we get heavy rain or snow, it can bring the country to a standstill.
It also brings the nation’s sporting events to a close and even though this weekend’s fixtures have all fallen foul of the weather, some clubs are having to allocate space for last weekend’s call-offs. One such game was the Dundee United versus Rangers clash.
It has been announced that the game will be played on Tuesday 21st December at Tannadice with a 1945 kick-off. The match will be shown live on ESPN.
With a bit of luck, the run of bad weather will be over by then and this game will be part of the busy Christmas and New Year period that both teams will hope bring back a large number of points and as few bumps and niggles as possible.
With Rangers finishing up in the Champions League against Turkish side Bursaspor in the coming week, their fans may have thought they would get a break from midweek games for a while. That is not to be the case and after this midweek game, Rangers will be in action alongside the rest of the SPL on Boxing Day, the 29th of December and then of course comes the big New Year clash with Celtic at Ibrox.
With no let up for teams in the SPL, the next month could have a major impact on final positions in the league.

Seriously, are these people for real?
5 away games scheduled for after Champs league games, now 4 away games out of 5 over Xmas and before the next Old firm game
Must be that “computer” again
Lucky we are not paranoid
You are using the P word quite a bit though Scooter….
However, agree its a farce – let alone knowing what the weather may have in store – this is not the time of year to be packing in away trips or overloading fans.
I know traditionally the Christmas and New Year period has always had a lot of games in a short period of time but the cost of going to football is astronomic compared to the olden days. It’s an expensive time of year and some fans will miss out on being at the game due to cost and other commitments.
We should maybe wait and see when they reschedule Celtic’s midweek trip to Pittodrie before totally denouncing that computer. And to be honest, it was probably ESPN that pushed the hardest for the game on this date.
Just hand the league over to Celtic
Honestly its beyond a joke, everyone knows that if the wee club in Glasgow (not partick) were asked to do this they would be asking for fair treatment, using quotes like “Those days have gone” just for a loud cheer obviuosly
You could almost see them sitting around that table
“Lets get another away game in for THEM, days before Xmas, may get injured players back if we leave it too late, bound to slip up sooner or later”
And then no doubt, just to finish it off, we will have to visit a top 6 team 3x this season for the 8th time out of 11 seasons, whilst others have yet to do so in history of SPL
An absolute farce of a league
Suppose we need to just keep going and win it again…
Rant over
Move along, nothing to see here…….
On yerself Scooter….
We all get days like that and the goings on in the past month(s) in Scottish football has certainly pushed a lot of people to the end of their tether at times……from all teams.
It’s Friday and you have a free weekend – have some fun!
Dont get me started about fun
Cant get oot my drive
Need to send the wife out I think
Well Scooter if you had the proper clothes & equipment then you would not have a problem think ahead stay focused!!!!!!!!
