Should Hearts push for fairness from the SFA?

Things are looking up down Gorgie way

WeKnowSFA - Hearts

We asked for opinions from fans regarding the goings on at their club and we’re delighted to say the first response has arrived at WeKnowSFA….and it has come all the way from Florida.

Sadly, the weather has not followed on. Anyways, our Jambo is bang up to date with the goings on at Tynecastle and even though things have been quiet of late in Scottish football, there are still some unresolved issues for many fans.

Over to you Orlando Jambo:

The main point of this is that I cannot believe the double standards which exist in Scottish football – I’m saying this as the US sports have JumboTron’s for replays, the refs are all miked up and they explain their decision after consultation with the other officials – yes, it may be time consuming, but the fans leave satisfied.

Our owner is heavily fined for speaking his mind and actually telling the truth, yet nothing against Celtic? That proves that the press and the GFA are set up purely for the Glasgow clubs – ok then Celtic, off you go to the EPL with your anti-Poppy songs and attitude, you’ll be back whimpering to be let back in. You are not good enough to last 5 minutes.

It’s funny that from a distance, things seem a lot clearer as you’re not caught up in the daily bickering and rivalry, always having to defend your position and explaining that it should always be about football, not religion, and that the funds should be split equally between the clubs. That goes for voting rights as well.

Now, America for all its rights or wrongs, wants to see a sporting event between evenly matched teams – the fact that the Weegies suck up all the income, get more tv and also have the refs in their favour is almost enough to make me start following basketball and my new local home team, the Orlando Magic. They are doing fairly well right now.

Excitement has been brought back to Tynie, the team are playing well as a unit and they have a great management team – JJ is grooming Lockie to be his successor.

Some strong opinions but you’d hardly say they were uncommon opinions. We definitely agree with the benefits of using TV evidence for questionable decisions and for the need for better explanation from officials.

Anyways, it’s great to get this opinion on the site but do you agree or disagree? Once again, thanks to Orlando Jambo for his thoughts; do you have anything to add, do you think the Jambos are deserving of a bit of justice or is Romanov in a league of his own?

There is a story on the club’s website this morning about an international award for the breakfast club for kids that Hearts are involved with. This is the sort of community effort which, if it involved either of the Old Firm, would have the Scottish football press corps drooling with delight. You can bet your life it will be ignored however. What they’ll probably pick up on is the snow damage to the old stand. If it proves impossible to repair that for Saturday’s match with Aberdeen, you can bet there will be snide remarks aplenty.

Uncle Tam, maybe instead of spending money on publicity stunts like the breakfast club the club should spend some money on the maintenance of the ground.

    Don’t you….forget about me….

Theres one for all you 80′s kids out there.

    Leith Street Walker;
I recently paid a fair bit of money adding a small extension to my home. Looking at the snow that’s gathering in its guttering, there’s a fair chance I could shortly find myself in the same predicament as HMFC. Extremes of weather are no respectors of maintenance outlay.

    PS LSW,
If the breakfast club is just a publicity stunt how come it doesn’t get any publicity?

Orlando Jambo is spot on. The last time I was at a Hearts v Celtic game at Tynecastle, the away support spent the whole match Standing Up ( which is illegal ) & singing Sectarian Songs ( also illegal ) . When the Hearts supporter in front of me stood up & asked the nearest Steward why nothing was being done about this, he was told to sit down & shut up, or he would be ejected from the ground!

    Total farce!

Wilbur, the recent Hearts v Celtic game was one where neither set of fans came out with any credit.

It would be of interest to get your opinions on:
    a) what exactly was sectarian about the songs sung that night?
    b) what you thought of the Jambos songbook that night?

As said, the songs and behaviour of boths sets of fans on the evening was not what we want to see in the stands at a Scottish football game. However, from recollection, most of the songs from the away end that night were of a questionable nature due to political and paramilitary reasons – not sectarian, which is a different issue.

Not sticking up for any of the fans but there does appear to be a lack of understanding about what actually constitutes sectarianism….just because a Celtic or Rangers fan sings it doesnt mean it is necessarily sectarian – and many other fans around Scotland engage in sectarian abuse as well…Hearts being a notable candidate.

One issue about the stewards may stem from the fact that Celtic tend to bring their own stewards to away grounds – no doubt in agreement with the host team.
