Is quantity becoming an issue for Rangers?

by WeKnowSFA

The quality is still there…but is there enough?

Results like the 3-0 home defeat to Hibs can happen for any team and for one with eyes on so many prizes as Rangers have; it’s not a complete shock. Some Rangers fans would have been dazed and confused at the big loss, others would have taken solace at Celtic losing at the same time whilst others would have seen it coming.

The official Rangers website is running with the story that the team is being pushed to the limit with 6 key players unavailable.

Papac and Edu are the latest additions to an injury list containing Jelavic, Webster and Beattie and Foster is unable to play due to the terms of his loan agreement. The Rangers starting line-up should be more than strong enough but if Rangers are looking for inspiration from the bench, it is asking a lot from the boys.

Rangers have good young players that can impact on the SPL but it is asking a lot from them to be the saviour if things aren’t going right for them. Then again, if you cannot handle the pressure, a career at Rangers is not likely to lie ahead of you.

With a limited budget available to him, Walter Smith decided that spending nearly £5m on Jelavic and Beattie would be of value but injuries have ruled them both out. You cannot predict injuries so in this regard, Rangers have been unlucky but then again, if you go into a season with such a threadbare squad, it doesn’t take a lot of injuries to seriously impact on your squad.

There is no love lost between Rangers and Aberdeen but you can’t see anything other than a home win tomorrow. Rangers will come roaring out of the blocks to make up for midweek disappointment and Aberdeen…well, they have major injury problems too but they just aren’t at the races. The home crowd will be baying for a goal-rush like the one Celtic handed out against Aberdeen but a comfortable afternoon with three points and no injuries should be the main focus for the Rangers fans.

Are you expecting a goal-fest at Ibrox?

No doubt Wednesdays result was a wake up call, could be argued its been coming, but if someone told me that 12 games in we would be top after being too difficult away venues, being to parkhead for first Old firm game, and being without a player who looks a top player in Jelavic for a length of time, I for one would have settled for it to be honest

Aberdeen will be a tough game tomorrow, Mark McGhee, Zander Diamond, Paul Hartley, Chris McGuire etc etc will probably use different “tactics” to those used last weekend

Its a game I think we will win, presure seems to be effecting some more than others, Neil lennon for example….

Wednesday was a shock to us all and losing our first domestic game in 20 months at home will hopefully not sit well with a squad hungry for success.

I would love to think we could spank Aberdeen 9-0 but sadly there is no way that will happen, the players mentioned by Scooter will ensure that never happens. Saying that, I predict a home win by a couple of goals and some pressure applied to Celtic for their away tie at the Methadrome in Paisley. Let’s hope the after match reporting on that one is about football and nothing else.

With a fan on the touchline in charge, anything could happen at Paisley on Sunday

I see lennons playing the “everyones out to get me cos of who / what I am” card again

When in trouble Neil, play the Bigotry card. Unbelievable what this “man” gets away with
