Rangers Boyd bench-bound at Hampden

No start for goal-grabber

WeKnowSFA - Scotland

With Liam McFadden failing a fitness test, Craig Levein’s first Scottish national team lines up as:

Gordon, Hutton, Caldwell, Webster, Wallace, Robson, Brown, D Fletcher, Thomson, Dorrans, Miller.

This means there is no start for the SPL leading goal-scorer Kris Boyd, although his strike partner Kenny Miller plays from the start.

We think this is no bad thing. It is right that Boyd is back on the squad and should get some time on the field but a little bit of atonement is not a bad thing for the player.

Certainly not for Levein, nor for the SFA but for the fans watching the game tonight.

The problems with the Burley era were well documented and there was something rotten in the camp but its time to move on from that. However, it wasn’t only Burley Boyd turned his back on, it was the fans.

Everyone deserves a second chance but a wee spell on the bench should serve as a punishment for treating the fans in the way he did.

Tonight is only a friendly, if there were points up for grabs, Boyd would be on from the start but its not, so it gives Craig Levein the chance to lay down the law and start the new era off in the right tone and manner.

The best way Kris Boyd can get back in the Tartan Army’s good books so when he does get the chance, lets hope he can carry his SPL goalscoring form into the international arena.

Are you happy to see Boyd back in the fold?

who cares? Kris is not good enough for Rangers never mind Scotland. I look forward to him leaving in the summer then my team can play free flowing football again, hes so slow, no touch, no skill, he doesnt have much. Oh he scores against the diddy teams, well next year, were in with the big boys so we will need better than him.

i cant believe Fleck and Wilson are not in the first team squad at Scotland, whos in there who is better? Caldwell and McFadden? DONT MAKE ME LAUGH. The Rangers boys are much better and have played champs league football, faddy and big heed havnt!!!!!!!

barry robson??? what a joke!!! hes not an international footballer, he stumbles around the pitch like hes steam boats.

Neil Alexander should be Scotlands number 1, most UNDER RATED goalie in Britain.

His goalscoring record at home for Scotland, is good. We need all the best players we can get to get anywhere near the play off spot, time to let bygones be bygones and all fight for the common good of our Country.

I like the cut of Levein’s jib and I thank he can unite us again, he certainly has passion for his job and team.
