Rangers fail to grab their perfect 10
Caley keep their unbeaten away run going

There wasn’t to be a perfect ten for Rangers at Ibrox as Inverness Caldeonian Thistle once again proved to be a thorn in the side of the blues. They didn’t quite go ballistic but the Caley fans were definitely the happier at the end.
Terry Butcher may have apologised after leading Caley to victory at Ibrox in March 2009 but there was no post-match sorries from Butcher today. In fact, he made a pointed remark about not getting a penalty when Davie Weir tangled with Foran.
Things started so well for Rangers as Maurice Edu fired them into an early lead. The American will be the first to admit that his intention was to lay the ball off but when it continued into the box, he arrowed a superb shot into the top corner and most would have felt Rangers would have pushed on from there.
After all, Rangers had developed a habit of gifting other teams the lead so being 1-0 up early on should have provided a platform for Rangers. It didn’t happen, injuries to Edu and Weiss caused some changes to be made and perhaps there was a little bit of lethargy from the Ibrox men.
The equalising goal was a bit scrappy and not the sort of goal that you would expect Rangers to throw away…especially not in the last ten minutes. Kirk Broadfoot dived into a challenge but as Caley broke on their left hand side, the space opened up leaving Eric Odhiambo with a relatively straightforward tap-in.
Broadfoot knows he was badly at fault and his reaction at losing the goal says everything about how the player feels about his challenge.
There was to be no late winner for Rangers this time but with a trip to Valencia on Thursday night, there is no time to mope about the scoreline. 10 SPL games featuring 9 wins and one draw is still an almighty record and Rangers are still out in front of the league.
A trip to Spain provides some respite from the SPL for Rangers but next weekend, Walter Smith will be asking for a reaction from his men.
As for Caley, unbeaten in league competitions since November of last year, their performance has to be commended. A large number of these games were clocked up in the First Division but Caley have started very well this season and are currently in fourth place. If they keep this run going, they may just start seriously considering a top 6 finish.
