Miller strikes early for the leaders

The half-time lead could also see Ibrox club go four points clear of Celtic at full-time.
This time last week we told you about Rangers coming out firing at Ibrox and what do you know, they have did the same this week.
Motherwell have not been playing at the same level recently as they started the season but their fans would have been hopeful of giving the Champions a challenge. Unlike St Mirren and St Johnstone, Motherwell at least held out beyond the first minute but their goal was breached in 5 minutes by Kenny Miller.
Aside from that, Motherwell were lucky to get past the ten minute mark without being further behind, Kris Boyd twice had efforts cleared off the line to keep the early score at 1-0 to the home team.
Boyd is in a rush to catch up with Henrik Larsson’s SPL goal scoring record and home games are his big opportunity to do so. The player has been the man responsible for opening the scoring for Rangers of late so his keenness to add to Millers opener was very evident.
It is clearly a tactic for Rangers to come out and try to notch an early lead but stopping it is easier said than done. With it happening so regularly, there can be no excuses for defences not being pre-warned but they do not seem capable of stopping Rangers getting an early goal.
Rangers travel to Easter Road after Christmas with Dundee United the next team to play at Ibrox. If Craig Levein wants to prove he has anything about him to make his case for the Scottish national job, he needs to have his team shut Rangers out.
Will Rangers maintain or even extend their lead in the second half?
