Can the returning Tangerine trio help United bag three points?

Is a repeat of last season’s home win on the cards?

There is plenty of incentive for United to overcome Celtic at Tannadice with three points taking the Arabs back into 3rd place in the SPL. There may have been a little bit of disappointment with United’s start to the season but the weeks before the international break saw United starting to look more like the team from the second half of last season.

The return of Craig Conway, the two goal Hampden hero back in May, will be a huge boost for United fans and he is likely to trouble Celtic at the back. The Glasgow side have only lost one goal on their travels in the SPL so far this season but it is the United backline that may be strengthened for the Sunday lunchtime clash.

Darren Dods and Garry Kenneth are back in the squad and if they feature, will need to be on their game to keep Celtic at bay. The first Tannadice clash between the two sides last season saw United unbuckle Tony Mowbray’s shambolic defence but can Neil Lennon’s team be dismantled in the same manner?

With 7 SPL league wins this season, Celtic have clearly tightened up at the back but there are still signs of weakness at the back. Hamilton put the Celtic rearguard under intense pressure early on in Celtic’s last game and if David Goodwillie can be provided with service, the Celtic backline may be tested once again.

Another big game at Tannadice and at the end of the match, a lot more will be known about the ability and bottle of United for this campaign.
