After grabbing a point after being 2-0 down last weekend, St Mirren’s boss Danny Lennon may have been forgiven thinking he had got his Paisley side back on track. The trip to Gorgie has quietened down those hopes as Hearts tormented the Paisley side, with Rudi Skacel grabbing all three goals.

Skacel was a key player in that explosive start to the season that Hearts had under George Burley but to be honest, he trailed off badly from December but his legend status had already been secured in the minds and hearts of the Tynecastle faithful.

That is why most Jambos were delighted to see Skacel return and when he bundled home the opening goal against Rangers at Tynecastle recently, it was like the prodigal son had returned. Three goals today will have did nothing to dampen the enthusiasm the Hearts fans have in their main man.

The signing of Skacel was a shrewd move by Jim Jefferies and he definitely compliments the attacking presence of Kevin Kyle and the Elliott’s. Sitting just two points behind Motherwell in 3rd place, the Jambos have every chance of grabbing third place in the SPL and proving themselves to be the best of the rest.

There is still a bit of inconsistency in the Tynecastle side but you could say that about every other team outside the top two so why shouldn’t Hearts fans think they can be best of the rest. And lets not forget, Rudi Skacel was a Scottish Cup winner against Gretna for the Jambos.

There is no reason to think why Hearts cant get some joy from the remainder of the season….even if it is just from cheering Hibs exit from the Scottish Cup.

As for St Mirren though, it looks like being a difficult time ahead for St Mirren, who remain at the bottom of the SPL. Many more days like this and Danny Lennon will have more than just a riddy to worry about.
