Only An Excuse just isn’t funny anymore
It is as much a tradition for Scottish football fans at Hogmanay as fighting with the neighbours and pawing at unknown ladies but surely it is time for the BBC to put everyone out of their misery and stop making Only An Excuse.
WeKnowSFA is old enough to remember back to the radio days for the show, and whilst we aren’t going to say that every joke hit the spot but it was consistently funny. And it was all about football.
The show now has to hit a mass audience meaning it is forced to stick to jokes it made years ago or throw in more general TV moments.
The Scottish history guy? Terrible, who cares!
Jedward? Really.
Everyone knows Chick Young is a Rangers fan. In fact, the only person who seems unsure about this is Chick Young but that is because he is a lying moron. Is there any need to continually drag this out?
Macca…Dennis Law…Souness…Jimmy Calderwood (out of work since summer)…Ferguson saying “pwoud….vewwy pwoud” – is this still working for anyone?
It is fair to say that the show has dipped since some of the other high profile writers left but if this is the best that Watson can come up with from a year’s worth of football action, he needs to have a long hard look at himself.

I love the way he does the photos for his “quotes” section in the evening times article he does.
He’s dressed in a ‘see you jimmy’ wig without the hat making a funny face to be Gordon Strachan, he pulls a gurning competition face being Tony mowberry, he makes Charlie Nicholas look even stupider than he is (which to be honest is quite a remarkable feat!!!) he shows Burley as though he’s trying to break wind (with great difficulty) Then when he does wattie, wattie suddenly becomes a 30yr old James Bond look alike with black hair with a very serious demeanour.
The only bifference between Chick Young and watson, as far as wattie’s concerned, is that wee Chick hides his hard on a bit better!

The Gordon Strachan clip last night was very strange – yes, Aiden McGeady’s face on golf balls, fair enough..but at the end of it, he had Strachan pulling a multitude of weird faces, almost as if he was having some form of spasm.
Does Strachan do this? Cant recall this being something of note.
Mind you, given how topical the show is, its probably lucky that he never ended the sketch by trying to jump over an advertising hoarding, settling for resting a foot on it…..

its like most shows they only have a certain lifespan although still games magic!!!!!!!!!
